FASD Intervention Specialist, Time Limited Contract

Enviros’ Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Intervention Services program provides support for children, youth and families living with FASD. It is recognized that FASD is a medical diagnosis that impacts individuals cognitively and physically. The energy required to care for the individual living with FASD is extraordinary and needs to be recognized and supported.
Enviros offers assistance to foster, adoptive, kinship and biological parents by providing them with the information and tools required to effectively parent a child or youth with FASD. This program provides innovative support to these families to decrease the chance of placement breakdown and assists parents in recognizing the unique strengths and functional abilities of the youth or child.
We are looking for an engaging and energetic person who is committed to lifelong learning. The successful applicant is inquisitive, curious, and flexible. They work with families to explore family and child culture and strengths. The person will have a Bachelor Degree or equivalency in the Human Service Field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position. The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of FASD and be able to work well in a teaching and supportive role with adults. This position involves working with families who are caring for a child or youth with a FASD diagnosis. The position requires an ability to navigate through a variety of systems to provide support to the family. The position requires the candidate to be able to work with multiple partners to create a team approach. Additional training for the worker to gain expertise in the area of FASD is provided.
You must be able to work independently as well as be a collaborative member of the staff team. This position requires strong written and verbal communication. Organizational skills are an important aspect to this position. Criminal (vulnerable sector) and Child Intervention checks, Current First Aid, and CPR are a requirement prior to commencement. This work requires that you are in the community and therefore must have a reliable vehicle.
