Enviros is a charitable, non-profit community committed to enhancing the quality of family life in Alberta.  We engage children, youth, adults and families in experientially based opportunities so they learn and develop skills that foster independence.  Enviros addresses a broad range of societal needs ranging from programs for young offenders; family support services, emergency foster care, and helping young adults become successfully independent.  Enviros opens minds as well as doors, promoting social responsibility through personal action, interaction and accountability.

Enviros Base Camp provides a wilderness based addictions treatment program for youth within the province of Alberta.  Located northwest of Cochrane our Base Camp program is an intensive, adventure based wilderness program for co-ed youth aged 13-18 and their families.  This program provides support for healing from substance abuse issues that require residential treatment.  A safe and structured environment is created for individuals who seek to improve their lives.

Base Camp offers an experientially based balance between addiction treatment, traditional school, outdoor education, and community experiences to support youth and families in creating change. Staff will work in collaboration with Alberta Health Services to manage individual cases, present comprehensive documentation, assist in maintaining facilities and contribute to maintaining a positive environment for both staff and clients. You are also invited and encouraged to be part of the larger agency team.  At various points, there is committee work, events and projects that Enviros takes on as an agency.  It is important for you to find roles that may interest you and further develop your skills and abilities as an Enviros team member.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • Youth work experience
  • Human or Social Services Degree or Diploma
  • Wilderness First Aid including CPR Level C
  • A Class 4 Driver’s License
  • Wilderness and group management skills

The position involves rotating shift work, including nights. The successful candidate must have a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector search and Alberta child intervention record check, both within 6 months.
