Addiction Support Worker Full Time

Enviros addresses a broad range of societal needs ranging from programs for young offenders; family support services, emergency foster care, and helping young adults become successfully independent. Enviros opens minds as well as doors, promoting social responsibility through personal action, interaction and accountability.
Enviros Shunda Creek program is a ten-bed, adventure-based wilderness treatment program located outside of Rocky Mountain House. This program addresses addiction based issues that require residential treatment and support for males aged 18 to 24. The Shunda Creek program supports extensive family involvement and strikes a balance between addiction treatment, strengthening the family, employment support, academic support, and outdoor education and community experiences. The aim is to support young men and their families in creating lasting, positive change.
Currently, we require an Addiction Support Worker to support the needs of the clients in the program. The successful applicant will bring education and experience in the human services and addictions field, a commitment to working with young people in a team approach, and a desire to work from an experiential base creating a challenging and distinctive environment.
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
- Experience providing addiction treatment and supervision to males between 18 and 24 which includes: addictions counseling, recreation, life skills, community service work, and case management
- Human or Social Services Degree or Diploma
- Wilderness First Aid/CPR
- Class 4 Driver’s License
- Wilderness and group management skills
- A current criminal record check (including vulnerable sector search)
- A current child welfare check
Experience working with addictions is an asset. The position involves 14 – 16 hours per day rotating shift work staying onsite at the program. The program site is located west of Rocky Mountain House in Alberta.
