Enviros is a charitable, non-profit community committed to enhancing the quality of family life in Alberta.  We engage children, youth, adults and families in experientially based opportunities, so they learn and develop skills that foster independence.  Enviros addresses a broad range of societal needs ranging from programs for young offenders; family support services, emergency foster care, and helping young adults become successfully independent.  Enviros opens minds as well as doors, promoting social responsibility through personal action, interaction, and accountability.

The Position – Relief Youth Worker
Relief Youth Workers with Enviros provide support and safety to the clients within each program, according to each program’s unique mandate. The Relief Youth Worker is responsible for providing a positive role model and cultivating healthy relationships; behavior management as per each program’s requirements; follow-through on pertinent issues and related documentation (for clients and program); implementation of on-going programming, routines, and activities; and maintaining progress with program and client service plans. Relief Workers are expected to fulfill yearly training requirements and are compensated for their training costs and time.

Working relief shifts for our agency allows for lots of flexibility in your schedule, as well as lots of variety as you will work for various programs within Enviros. This is a casual position that involves covering shifts for regular Youth Worker staff.

As a Relief Youth Worker, you will:

  • Provide a safe, respectful, and healing environment for clients
  • Provide on-going vigilant supervision of the clients in the program
  • Advocate for the clients within the program
  • Complete daily requirements with each client within the program – including, though not limited to, chores, recreational activities, decision-making, problem solving, educational support, wilderness programming
  • Assume responsibility for household duties as required
  • Complete daily documentation and paperwork
  • Provide shift feedback, and attend supervision and performance evaluation sessions

COVID – We take all necessary precautions when running our program such as social distancing, wearing masks while inside, regular sanitization of hands and surfaces. PPE will be provided. As we frequently access public spaces, the ideal candidate will be required to follow the requirements of the restriction exemption program.

Competencies

The successful candidate will have a degree or Diploma in a Human Service Field, and two years related professional experience.  Current standard First Aid and CPR Certification, current (within 6 months) Alberta Intervention Record check and Criminal Record check including vulnerable sector, and a Class 5 Driver’s license is required. Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) will not be accepted.
