A strength-based, integrated approach to working with families and youth.

High Fidelity Wraparound is a multilayered process that brings together a natural support network for youth and families in the child intervention system.

High Fidelity Wraparound starts by supporting youth and families in developing a support team that is made up of people that they feel can support their goals and growth. The team then collaborates on a highly individualized plan for the client that outlines their ideal future and life goals, and identifies barriers to meeting those goals. The client is at the center of the team’s work that prioritizes steps and creates strategies to overcome those barriers.

The natural support network is identified by the youth or family and represents the people in their lives that they feel can help them achieve their goals. The team can include family and friends, as well as others identified by the youth or family as supportive. This team based approach is nonjudgmental and client centered.

The team then meets regularly to develop a plan that utilizes strengths, and identifies needs and family culture. Strategies are developed to ensure implementation of the plan is effective and the team is able to achieve its goals. Ongoing feedback is fundamental to High Fidelity Wraparound, and if at any time the team’s plan isn’t moving forward in a positive way, the team will re-evaluate and re-strategize.

Children and youth involved in High Fidelity Wraparound must have child intervention status and often have complex needs such as mental health needs, substance dependency, medical conditions or have been impacted by trauma.

High Fidelity Wraparound is an internationally respected process developed by Vroon VanDenBerg LLP and is a well-researched process with distinctive outcomes. Staff are highly trained in over a hundred skill sets and follow a specific set of guiding principles that include giving the client a voice and choices, creating an individualized and collaborative environment, ensuring an outcomes base process that is persistence in the face of adversity, all with an overall plan that is culturally appropriate.

When families are feeling a sense of competence and confidence in their ability to address their needs and goals, teams are able to function effectively on their own, and are able to problem solve independently, then clients and families are able to move towards a hopeful future for themselves. This is the goal of High Fidelity Wraparound.

High Fidelity Wraparound is a collaborative partnership between Enviros, Hull, McMan, and Calgary Child and Family Services.
