Enviros is a charitable, non-profit community committed to enhancing the quality of family life in Alberta.  We engage children, youth, adults and families in experientially based opportunities so they learn and develop skills that foster independence.  Enviros addresses a broad range of societal needs ranging from programs for young offenders; family support services, emergency foster care, and helping young adults become successfully independent.  Enviros opens minds as well as doors, promoting social responsibility through personal action, interaction and accountability.

Enviros Base Camp provides a wilderness based addictions treatment program for youth within the province of Alberta.  Our Base Camp program located northwest of Cochrane is an intensive, adventure based wilderness program for co-ed youth aged 13-18 and their families.  This program provides support for healing from substance abuse issues that require residential treatment.  A safe and structured environment is created for individuals who seek to improve their lives.  Base Camp offers an experientially based balance between addiction treatment, traditional school, outdoor education, and community experiences to support youth and families in creating change.

As a Shift Supervisor you are dynamic, creative, and committed to working with a team approach to provide guidance and leadership to the staff team.  The successful candidate will bring experience as a supervisor or senior youth care worker, an ability to be organized and handle logistics, and a desire to work from an experiential perspective to create a challenging and distinctive environment for staff and clients alike.  The successful candidate will be responsible for on site supervision of staff (providing feedback, problem solving, team building, training); ensuring smooth operation of the program and facility (logistics planning, administration, communicating with families and professionals); regular communication with the Program Supervisor; and the successful candidate will be a resource for the staff team. The successful candidate will support the Shift Supervisor team by focusing on administrative tasks including scheduling, vacation requests, and expenses.


  • Supervisory or senior youth and family work experience
  • Degree/Diploma in a related field
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Current and clean driver’s license
  • Wilderness and group management skills
  • Logistics planning and program development
  • A current criminal record check (including vulnerable sector search)
  • A current child welfare check


  • Experience and education in working with clients with addictions
  • Developing or delivering an experiential or adventure based treatment program
  • Wilderness First Aid and wilderness guiding experience
