Emergency On-Call Support Worker – Live-In Programs (1.0 FTE Sunday-Thursday)

The Program – Live-In Programs
Enviros currently has 5 live-in programs serving children and youth in community-based group home settings and a supported housing program for young adults.

The Position – On-Call Support Worker
This person is responsible for supporting the overall safety of clients in the program while on your rotation.   You are responsible for working in partnership with the live in program supervisors and the weekend on-call coordinator to cover a variety of open shifts that require staffing and to develop ongoing positive working relationships with staff in the programs.  Shifts will vary; some with notice to cover and at other times emergency coverage.

 Position Responsibilities

  • Actively liaise and communicate directly with the live-in program supervisors
  • Develop positive relationships with awake overnight and relief staff, supervisors and managers within the Enviros live in community
  • Provide a safe, respectful, and healing environment for clients
  • Provide on-going vigilant supervision of the clients in the program
  • Advocate for the clients within the program
  • Complete daily requirements with each client within the program – including, though not limited to, chores, recreational activities, decision-making, problem solving, educational support
  • Assume responsibility for household duties as required
  • Complete daily documentation and paperwork
  • Provide shift feedback, and attend supervision and performance evaluation sessions

COVID – We take all necessary precautions when running our program such as social distancing, wearing masks while inside, regular sanitization of hands and surfaces. PPE will be provided. As we frequently access public spaces, the ideal candidate will be required to follow the requirements of the restriction exemption program.

For Consideration Applicants Will Need to Demonstrate the Following

  • A degree or diploma in related field of study
  • The ideal candidate would have 3 – 5 years of experience in working with youth and young adults who may be at risk of facing homelessness
  • Individuals who have experience working within the Calgary Homeless Foundation network of service providers may be an asset.
  • A current criminal record check including vulnerable sector (completed within the last 6 months)
  • A current Alberta Intervention Record check (completed within the last 12 months)
  • A current First Aid and CPR/AED ‘C’ certificate
  • A Class 4 or 5 Driver’s License (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted)
