The Position- Manager of Communications and Fund Development
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager of
Communications and Fund Development is responsible for managing all aspects of external
communication, and fundraising. This key role advances organizational goals and objectives by
developing and executing Enviros’ marketing and branding strategies for effective community and
stakeholder engagement.
As the lead for fund development, this position works closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to
identify new streams of revenue including grant opportunities, corporate partnerships, and innovative
fundraising initiatives. This position plans, implements, and evaluates the agency’s fund development
strategies, action plans, and outcomes as outlined in Enviros’ strategic plan.
This position must follow all Enviros’ policies and procedures, health and safety protocols, legislative
protocols, and provide support as needed so that accreditation standards are met.

COVID – We take all necessary precautions when running our program such as social distancing,
wearing masks while inside, regular sanitization of hands and surfaces. PPE will be provided. As we
frequently access public spaces, the ideal candidate will be required to follow the requirements of the
restriction exemption program.

1. Manage all aspects of external communication and marketing for effective community and
stakeholder engagement
 Develop and implement strategies in the areas of marketing and communications along with tactical
plans to execute on those strategies, in coordination with the senior management team and in
alignment with organizational objectives
 Create and implement effective communication strategies to mitigate risk and ensure project or
event success
 Gather information from a variety of sources to analyze, interpret, and summarize data to deliver
insights and stay abreast of leading-edge practices and trends
 Design logos, brochures, communications, graphics, and other materials using industry-standard
graphic design software
 Create and maintain the brand guidelines of the organization
 Manage the development and maintenance of the agency’s website and social media by creating
relevant and engaging content and graphics with appropriate branding
 Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and the public to enhance and
promote the mission and goals of the organization
 Develop email marketing, annual reports, brochures, and other print materials using appropriate
agency branding. This includes writing content, creating graphics using industry-standard design
software, and using systems such as MailChimp to create and distribute emails.
 Manage expenses within the marketing and communications budget and the fund development

2. Lead fund development that aligns with Enviros’ strategic priorities
 Research and identify new streams of funding such as grant opportunities, corporate partnerships,
and innovative fundraising initiatives
 Write grant proposals as required
 Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, prospective donors, board members,
volunteers, local community members, organizations, and businesses
 Work with the CEO and other senior leaders to determine quarterly priorities and action plans
 Provide monthly (or quarterly) funding updates to the senior management team
 Work collaboratively with the CEO and other leaders to plan and execute annual giving programs
such as the annual golf tournament
 Lead the planning, development, and implementation of department goals and actions plans in
Enviros’ strategic plans within stipulated timelines to achieve desired outcomes
 In co-ordination with the Controller, manage fund development and donation documentation in a
timely manner, including tax receipts, thank you letters to donors, etc.
 Maintain the contact database and donor management system

 Leadership: promotes Enviros’ vision, mission, goals, values, principles, and culture; and
resourcefully manages the Department’s priorities by providing guidance, direction, and support to
staff and stakeholders
 Strategy: provides direction and input on the current and future communications, marketing, and
fund development needs of the agency and establishes departmental goals with innovative
solutions to meet these goals
 Decision Making: Uses strong critical thinking with principle-based processing to make timely,
informed decisions that enhance the quality of services; improves systems; and considers the
constraints and risks including liability issues
 Communication: able to communicate exceptionally well with all levels of the organization and to
external stakeholders using a variety of communication mediums
 Adaptability: adapts to changing organizational needs, conditions, and work responsibilities; and
ensures that effective messaging and processes are in place so that leaders and staff are
equipped to cultivate a work environment that can manage change well
 Collaboration: able to work effectively with all departments, programs and principle-based
processes that includes a diverse group of people; promotes cooperation and commitment to
achieve goals; and fosters a positive and inclusive work environment
 Initiative: acts confidently in taking initiative and solving problems; able to effectively manage

supports the growth and development of staff with culturally aware, strengths based and

 Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
 At least 3 – 5 years of relevant experience
 Knowledgeable about social media best practices and experience creating engaging social media
 Experience dealing with the media and public relations
 Experience with managing fundraising events and projects
 Experience working with donor management software
 Experience with industry-standard graphic design software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite,
and others.
 Experience creating and maintaining web content and pages with WordPress
 Experience with marketing software such as MailChimp, Hootsuite, etc.
 Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset
