The Program – Therapeutic Foster Caregiving (Stride)
Enviros is excited to be developing this newest model of care in the Child Intervention System. Stride is a therapeutic family based, culturally safe, short term out of home placement program intended to support youth with complex trauma-impacted care needs. This model is a wraparound service that incorporates a Therapeutic Caregiver, as the primary change agent, working within a Therapeutic Team, including cultural supports to provide individualized trauma informed supports.

Position Overview

The Family Coach is the support worker assigned to the therapeutic foster caregiver home. This position brings a high level of professional competency and intense work with assigned therapeutic caregivers. Key roles include responsive hands-on coaching and mentoring of caregivers, facilitating progress towards therapeutic goals, hands-on support, one-on-one and group training and skill development, crisis support, consultation and accountability. In addition, they join the youth’s Circle and take primary responsibility for ensuring accountability of the Circle to meet regularly, stay engaged with the youth, and for its tasks such as cultural learning and connection, community connections and navigation, family finding, and community resources. They support the logistical tasks of the program at the Caregiver level such as licensing, home checks, payments, and so on.

The successful candidate will be part of a team that operates the program from an experiential, strength-based perspective. They will have extensive experience in trauma informed care, youth services, and caregiver support models. Caregiver Coaches will support the after hour on call for the families in the program.

COVID – We take all necessary precautions when running our program such as social distancing, wearing masks
while inside, regular sanitization of hands and surfaces. PPE will be provided. As we frequently access public
spaces, the ideal candidate will be required to follow the requirements of the restriction exemption program.

Education & Experience
• • Post-secondary education in Human Services or related field
• • 3-5 years of experience in Supervising caregiver support models
• • Experience in human services with vulnerable populations
• • Knowledge of experiential learning, strength-based practice, and trauma informed care

Other Qualifications
• • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted)
• • A clean driver’s abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offence
• • Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”
• • Police Record Check with Vulnerable sector check (within six (6) months)
• • Child Intervention Check (within one (1) year)
