The Program – Summit

Summit is a community group living program for at-risk youth (13 – 17 years old). This program offers a strength based, trauma informed, harm reduction philosophy for youth with extensive histories of trauma, neglect, addictions, mental health issues, and involvement in the criminal justice system.

The Position – Child and Youth Support Worker

The Child and Youth Support Workers build relationships and trust with the youth, provide care to enhance areas of competence, and work to develop skills in individual areas of need. This is done by engaging the youth with intentional practice, recreation, life skills, community involvement and therapeutic programming.

Requirements:

  •  Individual must be 18-30 years old
  •  Individual must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations (international students are not eligible)
  • Having a current (within 12 months) Alberta Intervention Record Check – highly preferred
  • Having a current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector – highly preferred
  • Having a First Aid and CPR/AED ‘C’ certification – highly preferred

Qualifications/Experience

  • Knowledge of Harm Reduction, strength-based practice, and trauma informed care
  • Experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted)
  • A clean driver’s abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offence.

Pay: $18-$22
