The Program – Connects

The Connects Program is a four-bed Live-In Program for youth ages 6-12 years who have status with Children’s Services. Connects offers a recreation, life skills and relationship-based program with an average stay of 1 year. The intention of the youth’s stay is to create a sense of safety where youth can learn to name their feelings and create new ways of coping, create a sense of community, and become active in physical activity and play that is age-appropriate. As well as to work through childhood trauma and challenging behaviour so that youth can be successful in maintaining future foster placement or a successful transition back to their family (parental or kinship setting).

The programming at Connects focuses on cultivating a sense of belonging, provides structure and routine that builds on age-appropriate life skills and staying physically active in the community. The Connects Program provides youth with a safe and nurturing environment, individualized care plans, educational and recreational activities, and the development of daily routines. The development of strong positive relationships is a key component of the overall success of the Connects Program.
